Frances was born in her grandmother’s house, far out in the countryside, Cochise County, AZ. she graduated high school at 16, left home, worked to earn money & put herself through nursing school; then worked as charge nurse for 10-11 hr shifts at Marinship, during WWII. she was paid the same amount for a week’s work as the man picking up trash off the ground.
